BEGINNERS KNITTING NEXT STEPS: Purl Stitch and Beyond (materials included)
28th January 2022 - 10.00am-1.00pm with Nicky Jerrome in the beautiful countryside setting of Chesterblade Hills
You've mastered the basics of knitting - cast on, knit stitch and cast off - and now you're wondering what next. Come and spend a few hours with Nicky mastering the purl stitch, some simple increases and decreases so you can start to shape your knitting and learn how to seam your work using mattress stitch. Everything you need is included on the day including needles, yarn and a pattern to make a simple hat which can be completed at home.
We will start off making sample pieces so you can try out the new techniques. Once you are feeling confident, we will move on to your first hat pattern.
The simple super chunky hat is knit flat and then seamed at the end using gorgeous Erika Knight Maxi Wool, 100% British Wool. If you did the first beginner's knitting course with us and made the scarf, you can now have a coordinating hat!
We'll be covering:
Knitted Cast On
Cable Cast On
By the end of the session you'll have all the skills you need to make your own hat at home. You can choose which colour wool you'd like to take and I'll wind it into a ball ready for you to get started
Tea, coffee, cake/biscuits and plenty of encouragement are also provided.
Skills required: Near beginner: You need to be confident with cast on, cast off and the basic knit stitch. We have a separate beginners class to learn these skills.
Materials Included: KnitPro "Basix Birch" 8mm and 10mm needles, yarn for sampling and one 100g ball of Erika Knight Maxi Wool Super Chunky 100% British Wool with Erika Knight hat pattern are included on the day for you to take home and finish your hat.
