Summer Knit and Crochet-Along Details

Knit/Crochet-Along - 31st May to 4th September
Full Details:

We love knit/crochet-alongs. It's great to hook up with crafting friends for company, fun, inspiration, motivation, the odd little bit of help and support and cake.

Our Summer Knit/Crochet-Along starts this Friday, 31st of May, to coincide with the release of two of our favourite knitting magazines, Pom Pom Quarterly and Laine Magazine.

We are running our new Make-Along throughout the Summer. It doesn't matter when you start and it doesn't matter if you finish by the closing date. However, those that do finish by the 4th September with items knit/crochet in yarn purchased from Frome Yarn Collective will be eligible for prizes (previous yarn purchases count, prizes TBC). You are very welcome to enter more than one finished object.

You don't have to attend our monthly meet-ups in person and are welcome to join in online - via InstagramFacebookTwitter or our Ravelry Group. Our social media hashtag for this one will be #FromeSummerCollective and finished objects should be tagged #FromeSummerCollectiveFO

Join in with any pattern from Laine Issue 8 or Pom Pom Quarterly Issue 29 or, because we understand that some people prefer to get single patterns, we have come up with some alternatives. All of these are available on Ravelry but we can also download and print them for you if you come into the shop.

Pom Pom

Pom Pom Patterns and Yarn requirements can be seen on Ravelry. If you purchase the print copy of the magazine you also get a download code for all the digital versions of the patterns:

Laine

Laine Magazine is print only but individual patterns and yarn requirements can also be seen on Ravelry:

Individual patterns:

Knitting:
Boxy by Joji Locatelli, a 4-ply light-weight boxy jumper (many of you have admired Janet's striped version in Skein Queen).
Ochre by Ambah O'Brien, a 4-ply cropped length cardigan
Burst Into Bloom Shawl by Serena Tse, a 4-ply rectangular wrap perfect for 2 special skeins of hand-dyed yarn.

Crochet:
Berula Poncho by Annaken Allis, a 4-ply lacey poncho
Two Row Tee by Joanna Scrace, a 4-ply/heavy laceweight t-shirt

Although we're kicking off the KAL/CAL online on Friday, we will leave it till the following Wednesday (5th June 7pm-9pm) to have a meet up so people have a chance to peruse their copies of the new magazines and decide which pattern/yarn they want to use.

I'm being greedy and knitting two patterns:

1) Ambah O'Brien's Ochre cardigan in Cat & Sparrow Cocoon (a stunning alpaca/silk/linen 4-ply that we are lucky to have in the shop). Ambah designed the Pop Crop Cardi that we used for a previous KAL and I loved how well written and easy to follow it was.

2) Clare Lakewood's Argil top from Pom Pom Quarterly in Linen Lux from Woolyknit.

This KAL/CAL will go on till 4 September when we can all meet up at the shop and show off our Finished Objects (or carry on knitting if we haven't quite made it) before the weather gets too cold.

The meet up dates (1st Wednesday of the month 7pm-9pm) are as follows:

Wednesday 5th June
Wednesday 3rd July
Wednesday 7th August
Wednesday 4th September (FO Party!)

Don't forget our Sock Along which goes on all year round. We meet at the shop on the last Wednesday of the month 7pm - 9pm and there is a monthly prize of a ball of West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4-ply Sock Yarn for participants. #fromesockcollective

If you have any questions, just drop us an email or swing by the shop.

All the best
Nicky
